More than 20 employees of GroupOne Background Screening and their affiliates the DFW Hospital Council (DFWHC), the DFWHC Foundation participated in the American Heart Association Heart Walk on Saturday, October 18 at the Levy Event Plaza in Irving.

The annual 1-mile and 5k Heart Walk is designed to be a family-friendly event that brings communities together to raise life-saving funds and support the mission of the American Heart Association. Heart Walks across the U.S. to combat heart disease and stroke. This year, the Heart Walk Nation of Lifesavers campaign aims to create a community of lifesavers through Hands-Only CPR training and awareness.

“It was a great day outdoors,” said Stephen Love, president/CEO of DFWHC. “This year, the Heart Walk was relocated from Dallas to Irving. Anchored by Lake Carolyn in the heart of Irving’s Las Colinas Urban Center, I thought the Irving community provided a beautiful setting that enhanced the experience.”

An estimated 30,000 people participated in North Texas, with the Tarrant County Heart Walk on September 20th taking place at the Shops at Clearfork in Fort Worth.

“We were thrilled to participate this year,” said David Graves, sales representative of GroupOne. “It has been a fun day with music activities and camaraderie. This walk also serves an important purpose to enhance CPR training accessibility and bolster bystander preparedness. It was a great success.”

The Dallas Heart Walk raised $4,192,001.60. Survivors participating in the event were given commemorative red or white ball caps to wear during the walk to show their triumph over heart disease and stroke.
